Tax Help for Bushfire and Flood Affected Areas

If you have been affected by the January 2013 bushfires or floods, the last concern will be tax matters.

The Australian Taxation Office have said don’t worry about taxation matters at this time.  .....

They are implementing a range of support strategies to help, including:

  • deferral of lodgement and payment due dates
  • contacting registered tax agents and Business Activity Statement agents to determine what assistance you need
  • limiting their correspondence to people living in affected areas

If you reside within nominated postcodes identified on the ATO website, an automatic deferment of the lodgement and payment date (excluding large pay as you go withholders) to 28 April 2013 for the following activity statements:

  • January 2013 monthly activity statements – originally due 21 February 2013
  • February 2013 monthly activity statements – originally due 21 March 2013
  • December 2012 quarterly activity statements – originally due 28 February 2013

If you have other lodgement or payment obligations in the coming weeks, contact us for guidance on what to expect.
